In EA FC 25, playstyles have undergone a few changes on the meta, and there are some shining stars, while some of the older favorites have gone down in the hierarchy.
This year, goalkeepers have finally received playstyle+, but for outfield players, it’s pretty much the same. For now, we have cards with a maximum of one playstyle+, but that will ramp up soon with all the promos that EA Sports will release. For now, it’s always helpful to find out the best playstyles for every position inside the game.
Best playstyles in EA FC 25
Personally, the relevance of playstyles depends a lot on your playstyle. Of course, the playstyles mentioned in this list will be significant for all styles of players. But their dominance on the pitch could slightly differ based on how you play, and which cards you’re using.
Position | Best Playstyle | Reason |
---|---|---|
GK | Deflector | Keepers with Deflector push the balls further away, and prevents the parry from falling to another attacker as a rebound. As an alternative, Far Reach is also a good option to consider. |
RB/LB | Intercept/Whipped Pass | Once more, the Intercept playstyle is extremely effective for your wide defenders, as they can have a wider range of intercepting a pass and start a counter. Whipped Pass is also a really good choice for those who like to attack with their wingbacks. |
CB | Anticipate | Anticipate allows you to stand tackle with higher chances of success, and reduces the odds for losing control of the ball after a successful tackle. It was good in EA FC 24, and it’s even better in EA FC 25. |
CDM | Anticipate/Long Ball Pass | Anticipate is good for your defensive mid as well, since they will be tackling a lot. While all passing playstyles are good at start of the game, having Long Ball Pass on your deepest midfielder is a bonus. It helps you to land those accurate long balls, especially during quick counters. |
CM | Pinged Pass | With how bad passing is at the start of the year, Pinged Pass allows your midfielders to make those accurate driven passes. |
CAM | Incisive Pass/Technical | Incisive Pass on your attacking midfielder really works well, especially if they are well-suited for the Playmaker+ role. Technical is a good choice if you prefer dribbling with your CAM or use him as a Shadow Striker. |
LM/RM | Rapid | In the current speed boost meta, the Rapid playstyle is completely broken for your wide attackers. |
LW/RW | Rapid/Finesse Shot | Similar to LM/RM, the Rapid playstyle works well for your wingers as well. However, they can also cut inside from wide areas and take shots from a distance. Finesse Shot is a wonderful option to have for such scenarios. |
ST | Quick Step/Finesse Shot | For forwards, there are plenty of good options, but these two are my favorite. Finesse Shot is perfect to bury the chances with precision, while Quick Step is difficult to defend against when triggered with Speed Boost. |
With these playstyles, it’s hard for you to put a wrong step on the pitch. Cards with this specific style will always work well as long as you’re playing them in their correct roles and positions in EA FC 25. That said, the impact of some of these playstyles could change in the future based on tweaks made by the developers.
