Snapchat keeps adding new features to its app to keep the experience fresh and fun. One such new addition to the app is called Lightning Snaps which shows less than one second of a preview of your Snaps and stories. Sounds interesting right? So in this guide, we’ll explore more about this feature and tell you how to use it.
What is Lightning Snaps on Snapchat?
As mentioned in the intro, Lightning Snaps lets you set an expiration timer of less than one second. It works like this: when you click a Snap, you can set its preview timer. Previously it used to range from 1 to infinity, but now you can go less than 1 and choose from 0.10, 0.25, and 0.50 seconds.
So your friends will have to catch your snaps in the blink of an eye before it’s gone for good. This is a Snapchat+ only feature so you’ll need to be a subscriber to use it.
Send Lightning Snaps on Snapchat
If you also want to try out this new feature and create a lightning Snap of your own, just follow these steps.
- On Snapchat, go to the camera tab and click a photo using the Shutter button.
- Next, tap on the stopwatch icon on the right side.
- Scroll through the newly available options (.10, .25, and .50 seconds) and tap on a preferred duration.
- Now, tap on the Send To button to share the Snap to your friends or select Stories to set it as your new Snapchat story.
Your friends will only be able to see your Snap for the selected duration.
That’s how easy it is to send a lightning fast Snap. I could already see myself using it to annoy my friends or get their attention. Kind of like the Poke feature on Facebook but for Snapchat. The only bummer is that it’s Snapchat Plus exclusive at this point. But if you are already a member, then I highly recommend that you check it out.
In case you have any doubts or queries about this feature or the guide then let us know in the comments section.
