I can’t possibly recall the number of times I have been introduced to good music through Instagram. However, I couldn’t revisit many of those tracks, simply because I was too lazy to search for them on Spotify and add them to my playlist. Well, that won’t be a problem anymore because Instagram now lets you save trendy new songs to a playlist so you won’t lose them and revisit them!
Instagram Adds Shortcut to Saving Songs to Spotify
It’s just way too easy to save songs from Instagram to Spotify with the new integration. Whenever you come across a trending audio tagged in a video post or Reel, tap on it. Then, in the audio panel, you will see the Addbutton with the Spotify logo.
When you tap the Add button, you will be required to link your Spotifyaccount to Instagram and then agree to a brief set of conditions. Once that’s done, the track will be marked as Added with a message notification at the bottom, letting you know that the song has been “added to your Liked Songs playlist.” And, that’s it!
We have been craving this instant gratification of adding songs from Instagram to Spotify for years now. Not to mention that it creates a more cohesive ecosystem for audiophiles where social media meets music listening.
Moreover, it acts like this trending song suggestion hotbox that works on top of your Spotify recommendations to deliver new music that matches your taste. As someone who’s mostly into niche indie bands, there are only many trending tracks that I end up liking. For those instances, I believe this new Instagram feature is an absolute lifesaver.
Additionally, when in the audio panel on Instagram, you can simply head over to the trending audio panel and add all the songs to Spotify this way. I can neither confirm nor deny going on a song liking spree.
The feature is now available worldwide to both Android and iOS users of the Instagram app.
A Feature That Needs a Bit More Attention to Detail
While this is great news for music lovers, I’d actually be happier if the Instagram integration let us choose and even create new Spotify playlists when adding tracks. This way, I won’t have to head to Spotify in my free time and sort the massive list of new songs that I have added to my ‘Liked Songs’ playlist.
Moreover, since I use YouTube Music more than Spotify, I’d like to see an integration for that too within Instagram. Similarly, Apple Music users can also benefit from a dedicated integration like this one. Anyway, this is a superb start that significantly cuts down the hassle of adding new songs to Spotify.
