When Does The New Warzone Map Area 99 Come Out?

Many Warzone maps have come and gone throughout the seasons, bringing new POIs to stir up more challenges. Black Ops 6 aims to expand this unique collection further by introducing the Nuketown-inspired Area 99. So, if you’re curious about its release, here’s when to expect Area 99’s launch in Warzone.

When does Area 99 release in Warzone?

According to the COD Next program and the game’s blog, the new Warzone map, Area 99, will be released during Black Ops 6 Season 1. Seasonal launches typically launch the following month, so the map should arrive sometime in November.

While we can’t provide an exact date, we can narrow down the timeframe based on past releases. For instance, Modern Warfare 3 debuted on Nov. 10, 2023, followed by a Season 1 launch on Dec. 6. MW2’s Season 1 showcases a similar pattern, with a 26 to 29-day gap after their respective launches. This suggests that Area 99 will likely arrive between Nov. 20 – 23.

The COD Next stream already gave us the lowdown on Warzone’s Area 99, which is set in a 1950s-built government facility. More importantly, it’s the birthplace of the fan-favorite Nuketown map, as it depicts the building blocks of how it came to be.

Discover multiple POIs across the map, including the retro-futuristic Pods and the boneyards of Nuketown Shipping. The Reactor and Cooling Towers usher in the most chaos, given that it’s the center point of the entire map.

Once you’ve mastered Area 99’s battlefield, get ready for the next phase with the return of Verdansk. Day one players know all about this iconic location as the first-ever Warzone map. You can look forward to this launch in 2025, likely around the mid-year point.
