Let’s paint a picture for a second: you just unlocked a new weapon camo, and you want to see how it looks. After all, what’s the point of using it if it doesn’t look good? Fortunately, COD Black Ops 6’s weapon-inspecting features let you do just that.
Whether you’re looking to compare camos or just need a moment to appreciate what you have, inspecting your gun or knife is a fun way to pass the time between fights. Let’s talk about this feature, shall we?
How to inspect your weapon in BO6
How you inspect your weapon in Black Ops 6 depends on whether you use keyboard and mouse or controller. On PC, press the I key to have your operator hold out their gun or knife. Controller is a little different, as you’ll need to hold left on your d-pad and scroll through the emotes menu until you find Inspect.
In other words, while it’s pretty easy on PC and only requires one button press, it’s slightly more challenging on controller if you’re unfamiliar with the emotes menu. You may need to take a moment to scroll through and figure out which options are available so you don’t get caught off guard in the middle of a fight.
What does inspecting your weapon do in BO6?
The main purpose of inspecting your weapon is to look at its camo. Even if you’re using a gun or knife’s default appearance, inspecting it lets you examine it in detail, including its magazine and bullets. At the very least, you can see every little detail of your weapon, including the shine of its metal or any scuffed marks from past use.
You also don’t have to worry about being locked in an animation while inspecting your weapon. If you see a zombie or player approaching you in the middle of the inspection, you can shoot your gun or swing with your knife at any point, interrupting the animation and letting you get back into the swing of things.
