Factorio Space Age: How To Change Weapons

The launch of Factorio Space Age changed some of the game’s long-used hotkeys as plenty of new systems requiring hotkeys have been added. In fact, the key used to change weapons has been changed causing players to be unable to do so in the heat of battle. Here is how to change weapons in Factorio Space Age as well as how to change the default key used to do so.

How to Change Weapons

By default, the key to change Weapons in Factorio Space Age is the ‘C’ key. This will automatically cycle to the next equipped weapon, based on your weapons shown in the bottom left corner of the screen on your tool belt. For example, if you currently have the weapon in Slot 1, on the far left equipped, hitting ‘C’ will toggle to whatever weapon is equipped in Slot 2. You can take advantage of this to equip multiple different weapons or even the same weapons with different types of ammunition to effectively deal with specific enemies.

Once you’ve got the correct weapon equipped, you then hit ‘Spacebar’ by default to shoot the enemy you are pointing at. If you hold Shift and hit Spacebar you will instead shoot at whatever you are pointing at, regardless if it is an enemy or not.

The ‘C’ key is a bit unorthodox when it comes to changing weapons, but thankfully you can change it. If you want to alter the key you use to change weapons in Factorio Space Age here is what you do:

• While in Factorio Space Age, hit the Escape key to open the menu.
• Click on Settings.
• Click on Controls.
• Scroll down and about halfway through the Basic Interaction menu, you will find the command titled ‘Next Weapon’.
• Click the box to the right of ‘Next Weapon’ then hit the key on your keyboard or mouse that you want to use to change weapons.
• Click the green ‘Confirm’ button in the bottom right and your change weapon key will be updated!

I recommend using a side mouse button to change weapons, and you’re able to do so quickly and easily when engaged in battle with Biters, which later can become quite overwhelming in Factorio: Space Age.
