The Salvage mechanic returns with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 for the Zombies mode. It’s a must-have in-game currency that you should stock as much as possible, to craft and upgrade items.
Salvage was first introduced with Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War in 2020. After that, it was seen as an Uncommon item only in Call of Duty: Vanguard and is set to make a complete return with Black Ops 6 in October 2024.
This item has multiple uses in the upcoming title and you must know how to use it effectively, as survival is the key in Zombies mode.
What is Salvage in Black Ops 6 Zombies and how does it work?
In Black Ops 6 Zombies, Salvage is a type of currency that drops as Ground Loot after slaying zombies. Like some previous Call of Duty games, they appear as “small piles of junk with a green outline.”
It’s the second in-game currency after Essence, and has three uses:
- Craft Ammo Mods using the Arsenal Machine
- Craft Equipment at a Crafting Table
- Upgrade the Rarity Tier of weapons
You can craft all sorts of Equipment using Salvage. This includes Tactical, Lethal, and Support equipment. You will pick up this item automatically while walking or running over them.
When it comes to upgrading weapon rarity, you get four tiers – Uncommon (Green), Rare (Blue), Epic (Purple), and Legendary (Orange). The higher tier you opt for, the more the Salvage you’ll need to spend. So, collect as much as you can (kill as many zombies as possible).
Activision has confirmed that, unlike Black Ops Cold War, you only need to manage a single type of Salvage. The title from 2020 featured two types of Salvage – Normal and High-Grade.
Now that you know how Salvage works, check how to get into the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Open Beta to try it first-hand.
