Music has become a big focus of Instagram thanks to the success of Reels. The photo-sharing platform is now adding music to every nook and cranny of its platform. You could already add music to your Instagram stories, posts, and even notes, but with a new update, you can now showcase your music taste on your Instagram profile.
Yep, you can now add your new favorite track and highlight it on your Instagram profile. This way, your friends and followers can listen to said music from your profile page directly and learn which artist you’ve been jamming to as of late.
Add Music to Your Instagram Profile
In case you need some help finding the option, here’s a quick step-by-step guide on how to add music to your profile on Instagram.
- On Instagram, tap on the profile icon from the bottom bar.
- Inside your profile page, tap on Edit profile.
- Here, tap on Music.
- On the next screen, select Pick a song for your profile.
- Select your preferred song from the list of options under “For you” or “Browse”. You can also look up tracks you can’t find here using the Search music bar at the top.
- Now, edit the track duration using the seek bar at the bottom and then tap on the tick sign or Done.
- To add this song to your profile, tap on the tick sign or Done at the top right.
- You’ll now return to the Edit profile screen, where you’ll be able to see the music you just added.
The song will be added to your page, and you can press the Play icon to listen to it. The feature works for both Android and iPhone versions of the app. The screenshot below shows what your profile will look like. However, it is missing on the web version, so even if someone did add a song to their profile, you won’t see it on your desktop.
This is not an entirely new feature, as it was available to a limited number of users for months before being deleted. We can only assume it was still in the testing phase at the time. Even still, it is a rip-off of what MySpace used to have back in the day. And it is now publicly available to everyone. If you haven’t received the feature yet, update the app right away.
But it’s still a great way to express yourself and your current mood on the app. What do you think about this feature? Did you receive it already or still waiting in line for? Let us know in the comments below.
