On Monday, September 16, 2024, Apple released the stable version of iOS 18, the latest software version for iPhones. Ever since Apple’s biggest software update made its debut, fans have been going crazy to get their hands on the shiny Apple Intelligence features. After all, there has been so much hype all these months and AI has been one of the highlighting features of the new iPhones. While Apple Intelligence seems exciting, its availability has always been in question. If you’re also curious to try Apple’s AI system or are wondering if iOS 18 has Apple Intelligence, you’ve landed at the right place. Keep reading to get all your answers.
Is Apple Intelligence Available in iOS 18?
This is damn disappointing, but iOS 18 doesn’t have Apple Intelligence at the moment. Usually, the new software arrives all at once, but this is a weird year for iOS. Apple’s latest iPhone software update has arrived with foundational stuff like a revamped Control Center and RCS Messaging, but Apple Intelligence isn’t a part of the initial iOS 18 release. Also, we might not see some of the Apple Intelligence features until 2025. This includes the exciting Genmoji, Image Playground, ChatGPT integration, and new Siri with contextual awareness.
It’s worth knowing that even the latest iPhone 16 lineup won’t ship with Apple Intelligence features right out of the box.
When Will Apple Intelligence Arrive
If you’re waiting for the Apple Intelligence release date, you should put together all your patience. Apple Intelligence will be available on all supported devices from October onwards in U.S. English. Apple will start rolling out AI to eligible users with new iOS 18.x updates in October. If you don’t live in the US, Apple Intelligence will be available in December in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. This will be followed by French, Chinese, Japanese, and Spanish in 2025.
Not All iOS 18 iPhones Will Get Apple Intelligence
It’s worth knowing that not all iPhones will get Apple’s forthcoming AI system. Even if your iPhone has made it to the iOS 18 supported devices, it doesn’t necessarily mean it will make a cut to the Apple Intelligence compatible devices list. That’s because Apple Intelligence requires at least an A17 Pro chipset or M-Series chips (on iPads & Macs). As a result, only the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and all iPhone 16 models are compatible with Apple Intelligence. If you’ve got an older model, even last year’s iPhone 15 and 15 Plus, you can’t use Writing Tools, Summarize feature, Reduce Interruptions Focus Mode, and more. You will have to upgrade your iPhone to use all AI features.
What’s New in iOS 18
While Apple Intelligence is a major missing, iOS 18 doesn’t feel lackluster. This year, the new iPhone software update arrives with a fair share of additions like a personalised Home Screen experience, a customizable Lock Screen, the ability to lock & hide individual apps, Vehicle Motion cues, and much more. Furthermore, you can explore an array of hidden iOS 18 features that bring quality-of-life improvements.
