Black Myth Wukong has a ton of different mechanics that can go unused by players if they zoom through. One such mechanic is using Medicines, which can turn the tide in most battles when used correctly. In Black Myth Wukong, players can initially buy medicines from the Shrine Store or collect them from the overworld. However, it’s always better to craft them. However, you must unlock this ability first. So with that, let’s begin learning how to craft medicines in Black Myth Wukong.
There are two types of Medicines in Black Myth: Wukong — Mortal and Celestial Medicines. However, crafting both of these medicine types requires meeting and completing the quest for the NPC “Xu Dog.” Here is a step-by-step guide on how to craft medicines in Black Myth Wukong.
1. Meet Xu Dog
First, you need to finish Chapter 1 and enter Chapter 2 to unlock the ability to craft medicines in the game. After you have entered Chapter 2, continue forward until you find the Village Entrance Shrine in Sandgate Village. Now, from here you can find a side path that will take you to a lower ground area. Continue forward into the cave until you meet Xu Dog.
2) Defeat Lang-Li-Guhh-Baw
After meeting Xu Dog, he will ask you to defeat the frog who has swallowed one of his formulas. Just next to Xu Dog, you will find a big opening in the ground with a massive frog named — Lang-Li-Guhh-Baw. Defeat this boss and speak with Xu Dog again to unlock the ability to craft medicines.
How to Get Celestial Medicines in Black Myth Wukong
Celestial Medicines are different from Mortal Medicines as their effects are permanent. You can use Celestial Medicines to upgrade maximum health, defenses, mana, etc, permanently. To unlock this area, you need to defeat Chapter 2’s main bosses — Tiger and Stone Vanguard.
Use the Sterness of Stone and Keenness of Tiger keys to unlock the sealed areas. After that, you can either go through the Tiger Temple Cellar or past the Windseal gate to reach Xu Dog near the Cellar Shrine.
If you go past the Windseal gate, then you will have to take the left path from the Yellow Wind Sage boss fight location to reach him.
After meeting Xu Dog again, he will thank you for saving him and become available as a merchant NPC. You can now craft Celestial Medicines by interacting with him. Celestial Medicines use Mind Cores, which are rare items often dropped by powerful bosses. So be on the lookout for those.
